This morning during Hasbro’s 2018 4th Quarter and Full Year Financial Call, Brian Goldner (CEO of Hasbro Inc.) discussed a few points on the Power Rangers brand at Hasbro and the current developments. The standout moment in his statements stems from the announcement that Hasbro is currently in discussions with Paramount Studios for the next Power Rangers movie.
The last Power Rangers movie released in 2017 to a mixed review and only obtaining a measly $135 million worldwide, marking it a financial failure for Saban Capital Group and Lionsgate Studios and ultimately led Haim Saban, head of Saban Capital Group, to sell off all of the intellectual properties he had obtained throughout the last few years to Hasbro for half a billion dollars – including Power Rangers.
It is important to note that this news is NOT an announcement that a movie is happening – only that discussions are currently happening. There are no details as to a director or whether or not this movie will act as a sequel to the 2017 movie. Stay tuned for more news on the next Power Rangers movie!
