Fans acted quick as lightning when the POWER RANGERS ZEO GOLD RANGER figure released. This LIGHTNING COLLECTION figure is one of the most popular sixth Rangers in the brand’s history. Originally released as part of an exclusive two-pack, this solo release saw the character TREY, not JASON, as the ZEO GOLD RANGER.
The packaging is standard – quarter-turn profile, stock photo on the back with no descriptions. The previous release featured artwork of the ZEO GOLD RANGER head-on and not quarter-turned.
The ZEO GOLD RANGER is nearly identical to the convention exclusive release. There is some gold paint applications missing – specifically on the legs and arms – where the color is off to the painted portions. The accessories include alternate hands, an effects piece, and the Golden Power Staff in the open, blade-up position. The previous release included two staves – one closed, blade-up and the other open, blade-down. The fourth configuration (closed, blade-down) has not (yet) been released.
Obviously I have a bias for the ZEO GOLD RANGER. I think it was awesome that they gave us the character TREY as opposed to releasing another JASON figure. Immediately I wanted five figures (3 for each Trey, 1 with the helmet on, and a sealed one). Way to fleece me out of $100, Hasbro! If you couldn’t get, or afford, the convention exclusive version this is an easily affordable replacement. GO GOLD RANGER! –TokuChris
