Sometime in 2020 the original cry of It’s Morphin’ Time! may sound even more familiar than it already does.
That’s because a rumor is circulating the Internet that Austin St. John – known for playing Jason the Mighty Morphin Red Power Ranger – is returning to reprise his role of Jason in the second season of Power Rangers Beast Morphers. This rumor comes courtesy of That Hashtag Show which correctly summarized the plot of the brand’s 25th anniversary episode “Dimensions in Danger” last year.
But why would they bring Austin St. John back? Didn’t they miss a fantastic opportunity a few years ago when they were doing Power Rangers Dino Charge?
Yes it’s true – in 2014 and 2015 during Power Rangers Dino Charge there was an opportunity to adapt the Japanese Super Sentai Movie Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger vs Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, which featured the return of the Japanese versions of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers Dino Thunder, and the Power Rangers Dino Charge teams. For reasons unbeknownst to most of us that movie was not selected to be adapted (only a suit of a monster – Snide). However, if these rumors pan out to be true, it looks as if possibly that movie is going to receive an adaptation within the show.
Obviously this is just a rumor and we cannot confirm the authenticity of it. There has been no sightings of previous actors on set at this time. However, we felt it prudent to make comment on this rumor because if it is true then one of the original cast members of the show, one whom many of us thought would never return, is indeed returning to the show.
