An eye-opening new piece of Power Rangers history is revealed! Well before Jason, Zack, Kimberly, Billy, and Trini became Power Rangers, Zordon was forced to recruit Rangers to battle a foe who’s downright… psycho.
SYNOPSIS
When mankind first step foot on the moon it set off a proximity alert in the ship of an alien being that was originally sent to discover Rita Repulsa’s dumpster and to set her free. That alien was none other than the right-hand of the evil Dark Specter – the Psycho Green Ranger. Five remarkable adults were chosen – Grace Sterling, Nicolai Chukarin, Terona Washington, Daniel O’Halloran, and Jamie Gilmore – to become the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and to stop Psycho Green from awakening Rita Repulsa.
Sent to the moon with no training with a mission to save the world, the Power Rangers were ambushed by the Psycho Green Ranger, who quickly killed the Black Ranger by tossing a giant boulder on him. As the Power Rangers launched a counter-attack, the Pink Ranger’s face mask was shattered, killing him (yes, him, a male Pink Ranger!). The Red, Blue, and Yellow Rangers managed to destroy the Psycho Green Ranger, but he transformed in to a giant monster. Racing towards a mysterious palace they discovered a cannon that could destroy him. Needing a good shot, the Blue Ranger took the cannon and allowed himself to be devoured by the monster as he opened fire, destroying the monster form of the Psycho Green Ranger.
Only the Red Ranger and Yellow Ranger survived.
Refusing to keep the services of the two remaining Power Rangers, Zordon dismisses them from service and apologies for his lack of vision on how to keep the Power Rangers alive. As Grace Sterling, the surviving Red Ranger leaves, she is revealed to have kept the Psycho Green Ranger’s personal weapon – the Pyscho Green Dagger.
STAFF REVIEW
This is the stuff that hardcore Power Rangers fans live for. A new story that adds to the mythos and lore of the Power Rangers. We got a female Black Ranger, a male Pink Ranger, and a female Red Ranger – the first (other than Lauren from Power Rangers Super Samurai). We got a new Psycho Ranger – the Psycho Green Ranger – and a namedrop of Dark Specter, a villain not seen until Power Rangers In Space. Everything about this issue makes it a classic standalone issue and the ending will have your jaw drop. We would read a whole series based on these Power Rangers.
