Drakkon returns and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will never be the same. The “SHATTERED GRID” event begins here!
SYNOPSIS
We open in the future where a large fracture in the fabric of space-time has opened up with the Power Rangers Time Force. In an attempt to try and isolate and fix the problem, a large form of Lord Drakkon appears. Jen, the Pink Time Force Ranger, manages to go back in time to the source of where the fracture began.
Grace and the Power Rangers review the footage of Lord Drakkon breaking out of his prison cell. Grace offers help but Jason refuses, saying this is an issue now for the Power Rangers to handle and not her. Zordon and the Power Rangers discuss their best course of action moving forward. They agree to place a secondary shield up to block Lord Drakkon’s energy signature from being able to enter the Command Center as well as working on the pieces left of the Black Dragon to come up with a way to get in touch with the Coinless to warn them that Lord Drakkon is both free and might have the ability to travel back to his home dimension. Kim and Tommy decide it is time to go on a date to keep their minds clear of what is happening.
Lord Drakkon visits Ninjor and passes his trials. He explains to Ninjor that he is from the future and that a major war is happening and he needs his powers to be restored. Ninjor gets to work on fixing Drakkon’s powers, commenting that it seems like it was two powers forcefully fused together. He explains that he can repair Drakkon’s powers but they will not be the same energy signature as before. Once he finishes, Drakkon turns on Ninjor and his fate is not yet clear.
Lord Drakkon then sneaks in to the Command Center and steals back the Chaos Crystal used to power the Black Dragon.
Kim and Tommy finish their date and an awkward “almost kiss” moment separates them. Kim decides she wants to kiss him and runs back to him, calling his name. Tommy hears his name and turns only to be stabbed through the back by Lord Drakkon. Tommy falls to the ground, dying. Kim rounds the corner, morphing, and begins to attack Lord Drakkon who quickly overpowers her. As he is about to finish her, the Pink Time Force Ranger appears and begins to open fire, hurting Drakkon. He quickly teleports home as Kim rushes to Tommy.
As he grows weaker, Tommy whispers the phrase “that’s what she meant” and “it’ll be okay”, as Tommy Oliver dies in the arms of Kimberly Hart.
STAFF REVIEW
Holy $#!^. 25 total issues (0-24) have been building to THIS MOMENT and it paid off dramatically. For the first time since Power Rangers Lost Galaxy (the television show), a Power Ranger has died. And not just any Power Ranger – arguably the face of the franchise, the Mighty Morphin Green Ranger. Lord Drakkon is back and has done the unthinkable. How do the Power Rangers respond? What will happen with the Pink Time Force Ranger? And why do these things release 30 days apart? This is arguably one of the most powerful, dramatic, and entertaining comics of the year. A definite “cannot miss” issue.
