SYNOPSIS
Shattered Grid is over, the remnants of what happened lost forever in time and space known only to the Emissaries of the Morphin Grid. Or are they? Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue 40 takes us back to the main team of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers somewhere during Season 2 of the television show. Jason, Zack, and Trini have left for the peace conference and Rocky, Adam, and Aisha have joined the team. While the new team struggles to find chemistry and carry the weight, Tommy works to come to grips with his new, incredibly strong powers. Lord Zedd brings in a new ally to fight the Power Rangers – Dayne, a being from the planet Sirius who resembles Doggie Cruger but red in color – who seems to be a hitman for hire. And finally – the shocking page turner at the end – Jason, Zack, and Trini are not at a peace conference but instead have new looking powers and appear to be off-world. Just what is going on?
STAFF REVIEW
Ryan Parrott jumps from Go Go Power Rangers to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and doesn’t miss a beat. Taking cues from one of his peers and great friends, Kyle Higgins, Ryan sets in motion a range of new stories and new characters in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers universe. Getting a look at Dayne – an alien being from the planet Sirius just like Doggie Cruger, aka the Shadow Ranger from Power Rangers SPD – is not something we were expecting in the slightest. Just what does he have planned for the Power Rangers? And of course the big reveal at the end of the issue – Jason, Zack, and Trini being off-world in a Power Rangers looking uniform – just what does that have to do with anything?
“Necessary Evil” starts with a bang and it looks like it will continue for quite some time. After the dullness that was Beyond the Grid it is safe to say that this issue helps bring Mighty Morphin Power Rangers back to the forefront in exciting, page-turning action and adventure. Welcome back, Rangers. Hope you survive the experience.
