Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue 45 feels like the start of the endgame for Necessary Evil. This issue eliminates one threat only to replace it with a potentially greater foe. And perhaps, that’s the whole point of the Power Rangers. There would be no need for them without the evils that are necessary for their existence.

The majority of this arc for both GGPR and MMPR gives us a deeper understanding to Jason, who increasingly realizes the weight of his leadership and consequences of his actions. Artist Daniele di Nicuolo executes that emotional weight on Jason’s face perfectly in this issue.

Without spoiling anything, there are a couple twists in this issue that surprised me, even though hints of what is to come have been shown in future solicitations. It will be very interesting to see how the events of this issue will change the landscape of the comic.
